Rainy days = days with 1 mm or more.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In golf terms: a jumper or a windproof layer is all you need to play in comfort, and with around four rainy days a month on average, you&#8217;ll usually find plenty of days to get out on the course.<\/p>\n<p>One caveat: these figures come from the airport weather station, by the sea, while La Roca Golf is inland, in the Vall\u00e8s, where early mornings are a little cooler. Only on the very rare frosty morning are the first tee times delayed.<\/p>\n<h3>What to wear<\/h3>\n<p>Layers: a technical base layer, a light jumper and a windproof jacket you can take off once the sun warms up. Gloves if you tee off early, and waterproof shoes if it rained the day before, because winter grass takes longer to dry.<\/p>\n<h2>Shorter days: how to plan your round<\/h2>\n<p>In December the sun rises just after 8 am and sets before 5:30 pm. That&#8217;s around nine hours of daylight, six fewer than in June. The afternoons stretch out as winter goes on: by the end of January it gets dark around 6 pm, and by the end of February after 6:30 pm.<\/p>\n<p>Mornings don&#8217;t change: you tee off at the usual time. What changes is the end of the day, so if you want to play 18 holes in the afternoon, don&#8217;t leave it too late.<\/p>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re short on time, there&#8217;s a 9-hole green fee. Half a round before lunch or in the early afternoon fits neatly into a day in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<h2>Five tee options on every hole, even in January<\/h2>\n<p>With damp grass the ball rolls less and the course plays a little longer than in summer. That&#8217;s where the <strong>5 tees, from 1 to 5<\/strong>, come in: almost 1,500 metres separate the longest and shortest tee on the same par 71.
